I've always appreciated the work of Andy Singer and more recently Tom Flood in this space.

Nick McFarlane's book Spinfluence is a very powerful exploration of the tools and methods of propaganda, packaged in the form a partially redacted manual from a propaganda agency. I think it explains why the drivers vs people walking or cycling fault lines were manufactured and sustained. Helps deflect attention from those are failing both groups.

I've always been curious about what a typical breakfast was like, pre-the marketing age. We know the phrase "the most important meal of the day" was created to market cereal. I love the anecdote you found on bacon & eggs. I wonder now if the model I've experienced in other countries (essentially coffee and a pastry) was normal here, too. Great piece!
