Great piece, indeed. About two years ago I decided to ride a e-bike on all solo trips of less than 8 miles (well, if there isn’t pouring rain). I am doing this in Orange Country, CA, a totally car focused suburban environment. It can be done, and I do feel great.

What encourages me is the e-bike revolution with teenagers, especially teen boys. There are now dedicated bike parking areas at the local middle and high schools and they are full! Boys are out socializing vs playing video games alone. I hope this sustains after these kids get their licenses to drive--but at least they will be a generation that has experienced the joy of biking for transportation even if only for a few years.

Great piece Andy! I left the US 5 years ago because I was tired of having to rely on a car for everything. Barcelona is now home with my primary mode of transport being bicycle.

Hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made. Would love to have a chat with you about the documentary if you're open to it :)
